From Muervet, Jade going home:
From Teresa, Daisy Mae:
Despite the fuzzy blanket she had in the back, Miss Daisy decided she would rather co-pilot. She was an angel for the entire ride and is now settled in at LaMancha :)

Saturday Afternoon Newz, from Dave:
Well, I figured i would swing by in the afternoon hours to see what the heck goes on around here after lunch. Thought it was Erma's last day also, so I made my way in. Hey, that is the "Git 'er done" squad, for real!!! Got to meet the elusive Tess, who was readying up Daisy Mae for her ride to La Mancha, and also, Muervet, who has 3 of the cutest pitties around. You know, we hadda check out pics of our dogs, and all. She said she thought that I was a 'big dog'owner. Well, I am, when I'm here fooling with the buffaloes! And my dog thinks he's a real big dog, does that count?
Good news for Champ; he's out the door, as well as the sweetest sweet potato, Jade, who had a meet and greet with a female Pittie with the familiar colors of last week's Noah.
There's a new long haired Dachshund in. Don't we always seem to get certain dogs in as pairs, Pugs, Dachshunds, Yorkies?
Good work out of Fran, Janet, Barry, Muervet, Tess and Debbie. And of course, Erma, who is gonna be missed, and not only for bringing in those sweet clementines, like today!!
And have you noticed how the funny McGee hides his treats and toys inside the doghouse, in run # 2?? He is too cute. He pushes the blanket over the top of them, too!!! That is a gem of a boy, simply gorgeous.
Had myself a really nice walk with the pullybully, Cleo. People actually rolled down the window to say how beautiful she is. She had only one momentary leash-biting nonsense, and we quickly got that corrected and moved along. She loves a rough backrub too, so keep that in mind for her.
I had to sit for awhile, inside the run with Cara. I was just LOOKING at those magnificent ears and watching every which way they would go; it's hypnotizing!!! I think when she has them folded , crisscrossing each other, I started to hear FM radio music, hmmm?? That is one funny girl!!

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please make sure you notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week!
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

Rabies Clinic is the 2nd. and 4th. Wednesday of the month. Dogs must be back inside by 10:30 on Clinic days.
To All Dog Walkers:
Please pay attention to the DO NOT WALK SIGNS! If a card says do not walk, always ask management before assuming the dog is walkable. This can change daily depending on the dog's progress or health; therefore, it is very important to always ask first.

FOSTER HELP NEEDED!!!
From Susan:
We are looking for volunteers to foster cats that need medical attention. Medicine is usually administered from between 10-14 days. This is not a very difficult thing to do. You need a separate room to keep the cat away from your pets.
******************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan

Special Thanks to Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.

Hi Dog Walkers, If you will, please get the days and times you will be able to walk dogs in the upcoming week to Joanne Eckert no later than Sunday night each week. I need to turn in the schedule to the HD on Monday mornings. Thanks so much for volunteering your time for the animals! It is greatly appreciated!!
**********************************************************
Love our dogs? Then adopt one as a Shelter Pup and FRIENDS will get a portion of the sale! Shelter Pups has turned a select group of dogs from our shelter into amazing and realistic plush pups. Check out Casper and wonderful Sherman! It's a great way to “adopt” one of our dogs and help our volunteer FRIENDS group at the same time. Shelter Pups can also make customs of your very own dog. Check it out and bring one of our dogs home as a Shelter Pup!
