Joe (formerly Rocco) exploring the front yard for the first time...Can you tell we love him?? He is one of the most stunning dogs I have ever seen!! And I get to look at him ALL the time!!

Update Crusher, from Kate:

Update on Crusher from his new mom: "He is doing well, eating well, not gaining too much weight yet due to heart worms but still going through treatment and he is loving life (finally starting to see lots of tail wagging lol)! He is such a blessing to my family and me."

Our Tinkerbell, renamed Tinker at Pack Ethic, was adopted!

From Eric  Bellows, Pack Ethic:

Belle and Rex have found comfort and friendship together here at Pack Ethic Rescue Inc. Both are older dogs and both have had a rough start to life but with a little TLC they have flurished in our home. In a couple more weeks they will be looking for forever homes.

Hi all, an update on Guiness, our newly adopted Pa Doberman Rescue.

Thanks to the folks at Pa Dobe rescue, the last 3 weeks has been quite an adventure, Guiness has adapted well to his new home with Nemo, and the cats Elwood, and Squeaky.
Guiness and Nemo, 1st time we left them home unsupervised for 4 1/2 hours, with full acess to the entire house last night, ..........guess what happened??

Absolutly NOTHING, no pee pee, no poo poo on the floor, didn't kill the cats, didn't kill Nemo, no blood on the rug, stayed out of the garbage, we have two really good boys now.

Visited the Nazareth Dog Park almost every day since we adopted Guiness, a great place to have fun, and be social with other humans and dogs.
Hey Dan, I heard you have a new puppy?

Guiness in action,........... ENJOY!

Update Sadie, from Erma:

Sadie's follow up vet appt went very well. The vet said her skin and ears look great, and he didn't feel there was a need to give her the medicated baths at this point. I will watch for any signs, smells of the allergy returning. Fecal came back negative so looks like all is good. Only thing is her baby canines never fell out so he said if she was to ever go under anesthesia again to have them removed. Otherwise, she is happy, healthy and we love her to death! She runs around and plays with the cats, don't know if they think she is a cat since she is smaller than they are! Started dragging pillows from the sofa around the house last night just for the heck of it i guess. Her personality is really coming out. Thanks again for allowing me the privileged of making Sadie part of our family. Will keep u updated with photos.

Hey Erma its been a while since i updated you on my baby! Finally dan was off on a saturday so we were going 2 take Buddha for pics w/ Santa so i called it was the sat before xmas & the prior weekend was the last one for pics. Of course it was! So Buddha had an incident last friday where he couldnt put any pressure on front paw so we took him to vet & he had fluid around joint possibly related to Lyme Disease as he tested high for Lyme so he is on 30 day course of antibiotic. He could not move for one night due to paw gave him 1 dose of antiinflamatory & back 2 his crazy self in the morning! I think he is going to have flare ups with that paw because it happened one other time a few months back not as severe he was just limping so we will have to keep an eye on that. I will have 2 forward you pic from the night he was hurting he looks so sad but cant keep him down long he said one night was enough for him! He couldnt walk on it wasnt moving however found it in him to get up to go after cat when he came thru the room on 3 paws! I have to say little by little I am seeing improvement in him He is starting to try to relax a little when he finally stops fighting it at night! He is slowly getting better & getting easier to deal with on a regular basis! Lots of toys & lots of bones on stock regularly to keep him busy cuz he wants to PLAY PLAY PLAY!!!!!! This boy is spoiled we have spent a small fortune on toys & bones since we got him! I will do anything to get some peace! lol All in all he is  slowly starting to come around! Talk to you soon Nicole

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please make sure you notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week!
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

Rabies Clinic is the 2nd. and 4th. Wednesday of the month. Dogs must be back inside by 10:30 on Clinic days.

To All Dog Walkers:
Please pay attention to the DO NOT WALK SIGNS! If a card says do not walk, always ask management before assuming the dog is walkable. This can change daily depending on the dog's progress or health; therefore, it is very important to always ask first.

FOSTER HELP NEEDED!!!
From Susan:
We are looking for volunteers to foster cats that need medical attention.  Medicine is usually administered from between 10-14 days.  This is not a very difficult thing to do.  You need a separate room to keep the cat away from your pets.
******************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
