Friday's Out-the-Door News from Dave:

Hot, yet exciting day today, as  Princess the Shepherd, Junior the Shepherd mix, and Boomer and Rang made their way out  the door to fosters and rescues, and with Archie and Peaches up at NOCAF, and Minnie the Dachshund going today or tomorrow, gave us some much needed breathing room.

Run #15, Brandy the chocolate lab, nice walker, good dog, and Stella the yellow lab, next door, same thing. Good Labs, what'd ya expect?

Good work, Transport team, Joanna and Pat D, and walkers, Sage, Carol, Janice!

B side run # 19, " Danni", a tall Hound/Pointer mix(?), pretty, white feet, white blaze, on back of neck, little excitable, takes correction well as far as leash nonsense goes, affectionate, tall, good looker, black/chestnut coloring.

Adorable Princess and Brooke got introduced to the tour vols as well.

Weather will break by Sunday, but bring a cold bottle water with you during this hot summer season.

Tarps are on all runs, except  "Alcatraz", run # 8, last one out back.

Double check all outside runs before leaving, some dogs (Wrangler!) like to hide inside an igloo or behind one, so do double-check inside and outside runs before leaving.     Dave

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
