Help Needed Sunday Afternoon
**********************************************
Thursday's Updates from Dave:
Sunny nice walking day it was. good work from Ken, Kristi, and Eric, who toured with Casey Sunday, and was in for some on the leash learning.
Nice pack walk with a trio of Dylan, Bo, and Tank, followed up with a new group, Mallory, Mocha and Winter( well 2/3rds new).
Let me tell you about the new kids in town. Mallory, B sider, run #21 tan Shepherd mix, been here few days, is walkable. Little head /hand shy, easy walker, likes dogs, skinny, being fed 3x day. No problems getting harness on/off, takes a handling well. Maybe little shy to get out; be patient, she's fine. She got such a kick out of her encounter with little Brutus and Peanut, play bow and all. Nice gal.
And now, here comes the new guys, right fresh outta Jackson, Nocaf . And what a crew!! All on A side now:
Mocha, a white and cowboy tan, white faced pittie. pink nose. Think "Casper" face, cute, great markings, semi-moomoo like, in my opinion. Little rambunctious on the get out, but settled in nicely. Raring to go, so she needs to get on the giant hamster wheel, or walked and out a bunch. You will like her. Loves dogs, but little jumpy. Don't let her annoy the ones who are just "Hey!!I'm walking here!!" like Bo, for example.
Babs, a young, chocolate/black, straight ears up, Pittie lass. What a nice medium-sized lady, and Megan reports super housebroken, so get out early. Young and cute, and of course, ya gotta love those Dish Network-type ears!!!
Diego, short, medium built, Cattle dog, gray/black/tan, wire type coat ..Handsome.
Sophie, Boxer, white and brindle, smaller than Warren, I think Has those typical Boxer good looks.
Got them all martingale collared up, so they will be easy to grab and ready to go. With Mocha, she is young and bumbly, bit jumpy, so be aware .She's affectionate and all; you will like her too!! Almost had to her nose surgically removed from my cheek, that kissydog!!
They weren't moved to A Side till close to noon, except for Mocha, so the only one I got out was Babs. (Mocha did walk with us earlier) but thought that collaring them up would help the next shift.
And had a delightful Tank filled morning. He is sooo good on the walk, he does not leash bite or get foolish with that once you start going. Takes correction well, and loves to play the tennis ball game, you know, "I'll go get it and bring it, but you cannot have it game." Funny boy!! The longer your going out walk is, the easier and calmer the return walk seems. And that's what it 's about, huh?
Oh, I saw Joy with those tiniest of kittens for fostering!! So little, the little ears aren't even up, but out of the 3 of them, little flop ears was squawking MEOW, the loudest!! Fit in your palm, hey, GOOD JOB, Cat fosterers!!! You can't spell WOW without MEOW!!! Nice work there!! Dave

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**
We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!
It's that time of the year again. We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.
We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan

Special Thanks to Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.

Hi Dog Walkers, If you will, please get the days and times you will be able to walk dogs in the upcoming week to Joanne Eckert no later than Sunday night each week. I need to turn in the schedule to the HD on Monday mornings. Thanks so much for volunteering your time for the animals! It is greatly appreciated!!

Love our dogs? Then adopt one as a Shelter Pup and FRIENDS will get a portion of the sale! Shelter Pups has turned a select group of dogs from our shelter into amazing and realistic plush pups. Check out Casper and wonderful Sherman! It's a great way to “adopt” one of our dogs and help our volunteer FRIENDS group at the same time. Shelter Pups can also make customs of your very own dog. Check it out and bring one of our dogs home as a Shelter Pup!
