Update Grip:

Grip's doing great, he was having some accidents early on while we were at work so we decided to crate him and he's responded very well to that.

I've also been working with him with the clicker and that seems to resonate with him. We've taught him to give paw, and we're working on doing a spin.

He's been getting plenty of exercise and loves running around the park with his brother Leo and other dogs. I've attached some pics of the two of them.

Update Lily, from Erma:

Hi Erma-  Not sure if I am reaching you, it’s Melissa that adopted sweet Lily (the dog) about 18 mts. ago.  I saw your email address (I guessed it may be you) on an old pic I saw on Michael Bagley’s website and wanted to touch base with you to say hello.
Please let me know if I’ve reached you!  Heard you moved to Florida. How nice.
Wanted to thank you again for caring for Lily during her time at the Shelter.  We love her SO VERY MUCH!  So thankful you were out front with her the day we visited the shelter.  How funny, she sat on Jerry’s foot and that was it.  Smart doggy!!  She is spoiled with love every minute of her day, we are all crazy about her.  She also has two cat syblings and boy do they have fun together.  Rosie we adopted shortly after adopting Lily and Oliver we were fostering for FOSOCAS and we ended up making him part of the family too  We had Oliver since he was 4 weeks old and from that first day, Lily cleans him from head to toe.  It is hysterical and precious all at the same time.   Oliver loves his cleanings. So does Lily!

I’ll fwd some pics of Lily...I’ll try to keep it to a limit, since we have about 500 or 1,000.... she is such a part of the family, it’s the cutest thing.  Every night she sleeps with Grace our youngest who is 7....sometimes Lily puts her arm around Grace when they sleep.  She cannot get close enough.  So sweet.  In the morning, it’s Lily’s job to wake up Lucas and Grace (Emily leaves earlier for school).  Jerry gets Lily to jump all over their beds and nudge them to wake them.  She loves her job!  She has the life she deserves and we are so grateful to you!  She is well loved by all that come through our doors.
A couple pics attchd....  Lily and Grace relaxing.  And Lily in the midst of Christmas day love!

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
