Warren's Going-Home Pic from Connie:

Sunny, Chilly Sunday's Newz, from Dave:

Tough week, newswise, out of  Boston. Thank God that's come to a resolution, but long roads ahead for the injured. I'm sure those images will stay with us, as well as our continued  hope  and prayers for those hurt during that terrible day. What will stay with me is all those great Boston folk offering their homes and help to the runners who were stuck in town. Just people being there when something happens,  ain't that America? It sure is!!

Work of another nature in our little corner of the planet was done and done well by Linda, Casey, and apparently, The Sunshine Band!

Today's lineup:   2-Warren 3-Chunky Monkey (c'mon? that's a flavor, not a name!!!) 4-Winter 5- Bo, 6- Tank

Warren was switched out to Alcatraz because he didn't know  what to think about Chunky next to him. He was perplexed with the little round girl!!

Bo and Winter walked well together, although Bo would rather not play, just walk, and that was explained to the pretty gal, Winter.

Tank, B side, 10 months old, medium sized, white, with brown eared Pittie, is neutered and dog friendly. Walks good, Little energetic, had him harnessed, but is a little fidgety getting the harness on. There's not a bad bone in his cute body, just ready to go, got a little  " Nutmeg" in him in that regard. Two collars would work okay as well. I used a harness lead  the 2nd walk and worked well. He's neat dog. Spent some outside run time with him as well, likes to play ball too.

Winter, a really pretty gal, you can see and feel the Pyrennees in her. Probably has some Shepherd in her too.  Her thick, soft ears and the creamy, well, cream-colored  coat, is thick, plush.  What a nice walker. She sits and shakes paws well. Just a dog that will grow on you really fast. But for such a coat, she doesn't really shed like wild .

Bo is still receiving treatment for his left eye, but what a difference the week has made . He was getting ointment again at noon. He appears to get along fine with Winter, and he seemed to like Tank, as well.

Oh, getting Tank out this morning, Well, I'm officially ready for  the rodeo when it comes around!!! He had no collar on, and I grabbed the greased piggy and was quite proud of myself that I wrangled him up in under 8 seconds!!! Sometimes, I think Pitties should come with a handle on back. Would make it a wee bit easier for morning  run out .

Casey had a tour at 10:30, so we finished up the morning, and all were tucked back in , tuckered out!!

Hey, did you see the flyer for the Spring fling?  There's Butchie on it!! Last time we had an event, I think it was Cody who was on it, and he also got adopted BEFORE the event.    So??? hmmmm, why don't we  just  take a giant group dog and cat photo and  POOF!!!  They will all be adopted as well!!!! like magic!!!!    Dave

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
