Cali's Trip to Vermont, From Casey:
Cali went to very nice couple who has dog rescue/sanctuary in VT called Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab, Inc. Husband is dog trainer & they also feed their dogs raw diet, which will help Cali's allergies. She went to the perfect home!
Then on the way to her new home:
One more picture of our girl on the way home. Once we get her on turkey we will discontinue the sweet potatoes as well. With an allergy to potatoes there is controversy on whether or not sweet potatoes are good. So we are dehydrating beef treats for her now and see how that goes. She is scheduled to see our vet on Tuesday.
She ate really well and has already met Tex. it seemed like it went well but we will do it at short intervals. She doesn't like the crate so far but that will take a little time. She is definitely a sweet heart. She has done a little mouthing but it is just simple mouthing and a simple voice correction remedies it. One day at a time, one issue at a time..... Thank you for bringing her into our rescue!!!
From Cali's Mom : We are equally as thankful to know you. We will always keep you posted on her progress. She has played ball tonight, destroyed a stuffed animal and eaten carrots. Don got more great pictures of her that I will send tomorrow. She is fast asleep now. I understand why you would cry, she had our hearts before we left the parking lot. We won't give up on her and she will be safe and loved for her entire life. Sleep well and call me whenever you would like!

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.

Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**
We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!
It's that time of the year again. We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.
We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

All new walkers may walk green dogs on their own once they have gone through orientation. New walkers may walk yellow dogs once they have been with a red walker and told by the red walker they are okay to move on.

From SOCAF Management:
All dogs need to be walked with two leashes at all times, whether they are being walked from the pen to their runs, or just a few feet. No excuses, please!
The dogs must be on county property at all times when being walked. They cannot be walked IN the street or across the street.
Smoking is not allowed while walking dogs.
When walking dogs, please do not allow dogs to jump up onto any vehicles.

TO ALL VOLUNTEERS:
If you see a dog limping, notice a lump, blood in the stool, etc., anything out of the ordinary, or if there is an incident with the dog, be sure to notify the supervisors, document the incident, and put it into the dog's file, keeping a copy for yourself.
