**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puff@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

From Dave,Tuesday, March 33rd, or April 2nd?

Boy, this March is hanging around, huh??  Good day out of Ken, Paula and Janice.  Pulled a little late April fool's joke on Janice when she said she was taking Jackson home tomorrow.  I said, "Oh, I put my name for him first, I got him!" Coulda heard a pin drop, so I quickly said I was fooling!! Jackson got a bath and is looking quite spiffy!!
Surgery today for  -  Warren, Boxer, Sally, Black thin Boxer, Jackson, and Dudley, Yorkie.

Socks, the cute puppy.(Shepherd/Akita Husky mix? who knows??) got his rabies shot and spent some time outdoors, in between his new best friend, Dylan, and Turk, who really likes those two as well.

Socks loves the new canvas chair I put in run #4, and I added one to Run#2 as well. Picked up 3 more for the other runs Thursday,  so we and the woofs will be set up for sunning come spring time, whenever that occurs!!

Abby, who doesn't like to be left out alone, spent time in between good walks in the meet and greet. Wait till you get a chance to frolic with that Socks, he is a little goofball!! But smart!!!  You'll love him!!!    Dave

Happy Easter Sunday News from Dave:

Well, March came in like a lion and is leaving not so lamb-like. We are still 10 degrees below where we should be. But a nice day was had by all. Casey, Linda, and I got the guys moving and worn out. With the A side down to a couple of dogs, we wore out the B Team as well.

As promised, Turk and I took off. What a nice  dog, loves his walker, whoever you are. Likes to snuggle into you, too. He had run # 2 today, with Warren the brindle Boxer in #4, Dylan,  the black/chestnut lab mix, #5,  and Sally, the black thin boxer #6. And  Jackson had some Run #7 time. He is a terrific little guy, loved his walking time, at least on the way out. Casey carried him back in!!

Dudley the Yorkie, is a dream too.  Socks , the Shepherd mix pup, handsome, white socks for paws, black muzzle, had a chance to be walked a bit. A gem, will be a good sized dog, but wow, is he a handsome pup!!

Turk needs some training as for sit commands, etc., but that is  a good boy, a real people pleaser.

Got to pick up a few canvas fold chairs this week. I see they are on sale, so that, well, the dogs can sit in them and watch the world go by! And maybe, just maybe, a human will squeeze into one as well while in the runs with a dog.

Dylan and Sally look for each other, walk great together, and should be put next to each other outside too.

Abby doesn't really like to be out alone, so she took up the meet and greet with no problems!! See you Tuesday!!!!   Dave

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please make sure you notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week!
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

Rabies Clinic is the 2nd. and 4th. Wednesday of the month. Dogs must be back inside by 10:30 on Clinic days.

FOSTER HELP NEEDED!!!
From Susan:
We are looking for volunteers to foster cats that need medical attention.  Medicine is usually administered from between 10-14 days.  This is not a very difficult thing to do.  You need a separate room to keep the cat away from your pets.
******************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
