From Dave, Sunshine Sunday News:
Pretty good day, pretty good dogs, pretty good people!!! nice work by John, Linda, Stella, and some good work by the "Pupparrazzi" Mike with help from Kate, got a hold of Samantha, cute young Shepherd/Rotti(?) mix, as well as the lovely Cleo, the cute as a big bug, Casper, and the sweet as cotton candy Patches, as easy going a dog you can meet.
B-siders like Sasha, range and white creamsicle, were walked as well. Dublin, the Bulldog, is really fit as a fiddle, he is giving the other lazy Bulldogs a good name, walks very good and strong.
Bruno enjoys a good game of 'throw the ball in the pool and I'll go get it like a hundred times." I think he really likes me, and the feeling is mutual. He is becoming more and more confident, and ADORES walks with Poco-licious Poco.
Casper is a little wound up at the days start, but we figure after getting into the flow of it all, it'll be okay. Enjoys watching the world go by on the bench, assuming that he has your entire body to squish up against, an ya know, that ain't bothering me a bit. Or John!!
Cleo, who last Sunday had to be coaxed out of her run , is really showing what a good gal of a dog she is. She apparently forgot completely that she was referred to as shy. Pretty and a lovely dog, as of course, our old friend, Patches is, I think he could walk next to a Rhino, and the Rhino would calm down and walk nice. He is a sweet soul of a guy.
Stop by and grab a hold of a good dog for a walk; they will grab a hold of you too, by the heartstrings, so share some summer loving at the Woofatorium.
And don't forget about those felines either!!! They watch you from the outdoor playhouse of theirs. It's kinda cute!!! Sometimes if you walk tooo close, ya almost get pulled in by a little fuzzy cat footie!!! Dave

Love our dogs? Then adopt one as a Shelter Pup and FRIENDS will get a portion of the sale! Shelter Pups has turned a select group of dogs from our shelter into amazing and realistic plush pups. Check out Casper and wonderful Sherman! It's a great way to “adopt” one of our dogs and help our volunteer FRIENDS group at the same time. Shelter Pups can also make customs of your very own dog. Check it out and bring one of our dogs home as a Shelter Pup!

Dog Walking Schedule:
Please check the dog-walking schedule below.
There are many days and time slots with little or no coverage.
Please e-mail me with the days and times you are able to cover.
If no one can cover, the dogs will either not get out in the morning or have to go back inside early on those days.
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please make sure you notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week!
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.*

FOSTER HELP NEEDED!!!
From Susan:
We are looking for volunteers to foster cats that need medical attention. Medicine is usually administered from between 10-14 days. This is not a very difficult thing to do. You need a separate room to keep the cat away from your pets.
**********************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
SOCAF's Gallery of Glorious Cats
Special Thanks to Amy and Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.
