Thursday's Update from Dave:

Good job, Ken, Kristie, Kortney, and Jackie, who filled me in on Cara's and Babs' antics at the event last Saturday.

Today's workable lineup:

2-Brooke 4-Bo 5-Mallory 6-Sadie 7-Max 8- Diesel . Meet and greet was all beagled up with Leroy!
B Siders-    Angie, Black with white chest Boxer/Pit mix. Tall, energetic, good looker, needs some training. Seems to like dogs, but not formally introduced to any. Down from" Nocaf." She  should've been sent to "Decaf" first!!! Little excitable, but a people lover. Likable  Boxer face! Young,

Orange Husky, has owner, probable reclaim. And yeah, I said 'orange'!! Pretty dog, nice dog.

Older tan and white  Beagle mix, short, squatty, not walkable yet.

Princess, Brindle pit/Boxer(?) Good gal. Likes dogs, Little pully , but not really too bad. Is typical, sweet , pittiemama, Good sized dog, on the larger side, but you will like her. She was being examined when we left, possibly her rear hip was bothering her. Ask staff before going out too far with her.

And a perfectly named, beautiful, most handsome dog breed on the planet, in my opinion, the 10-month-old puppy, who puts the  "Mountain" in "Bernese  Mountain Dog", the adorable, loving, super bigfooted  "TEDDY",  who I believe, even his name has to be in capital letters, Oh, what a boy, this TEDDY Bear. Got him out and about and some #4 run time when Mallory went in to eat . Got his puppy coat, curly a bit on his back, walks pretty good, a real traffic stopper. You can imagine. He's got "OH MY GOSH " star power. Wow. Oh, and he has some training. He will sit and knows down also, will lower himself down on command. What the heck is with these 10-month-old puppies? Alvin would've thought,  "Am I gonna be that big too at ten months? "Ahhh, no, Alvin; you will be just perfect sized!!

Sadie, lovely dog. Take your time.  She's a little shy, but will cuddle up to you if you go in the run with her. Nice shiny black coat.  Bo, I think, is looking a bit better in a week. He is soooo easy going. And Mallory really likes walking with him.

Put a perfectly pink collar on Brooke on Tuesday, like a light pink, looks good on her. She's a pretty gal also, soft suede coat. She walks great, doesn't love to be close to other dogs. Walking  her out and back is pretty easy .   Dave

Teddy, Adopted!

Update McGee, from Joanna:
McGee was adopted by family that owns a sign shop and he goes to work every day.

Petsmart Adoption Weekend Results, from Peggy:
This past weekend May 3, 4, 5 was PETSMART ADOPTION WEEKEND. Our goal was 12 adoptions. We exceeded our goal by 1= 13 ADOPTIONS. This included Shelter adoptions. Good job to all my volunteers. Thanks to the Shelter staff for sending adopters over to Petsmart with the Petsmart form so they were able to get their adoption kits.
We are very near our 1,000 adoption at Petsmart.

*********************************************************
Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
