Tank was adopted today!
**********************************************
Sunday's Not-so-Sunny News from Dave:
Today broke a string of, oh, about 300 SUNNY Sundays in a row, but a decent day all around. Tank has the A side completely to himself and was seen making plans to knock down a wall and set up a 2-bedroom suite for himself. What a boy!!
Can you imagine CARA and BABS next to each other at the Manahawkin Park event yesterday? Zoning officials were probably seen scurrying about, trying to figure out the "funny ears per acre" rules and regulations!!! What a pair!! Good for good old Bo too, as well as Babs, getting to go home.
Today, the 'other Bo', the Rotti/mix, got a nice warm bath, and his black coat shined right up. He'll get better and quick. He has a great, easygoing personality and a handsome face.
That Eskimoof is a little bundle of fun, too! A little pupperdoodle.
Max and Diesel, nice dogs, just be aware they 're very similar in looks. Max has the white stripe on his head, though.
Have you seen the billboard on route 9 northbound, opposite the super Wawa? Looks really good, a fine looking advertisement for the fine felines and dogs available there. Dave
The black lab/mix, B side, Sadie, nice, but shy, will come around quick. Take your time, She's black with a white blaze on the chest. Brooke is also B side, good dog, good walker, will take some time too to get acquainted with the crew. Walked in the vicinity of Tank, who of course, is great, but she didn't feel comfortable, so stay a good distance away. I used run # 2 for her, 3-Leroy 4-Tank 5- Max 6-Diesel 7-Bo 8-Mallory. Mallory is rounding into a lovely gal. Plays and is more and more comfortable with dogs, and is filling out a bit. Still skinny, but getting there.

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**
We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!
It's that time of the year again. We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.
We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
SOCAF's Gallery of Glorious Cats
Special Thanks to Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.

Hi Dog Walkers, If you will, please get the days and times you will be able to walk dogs in the upcoming week to Joanne Eckert no later than Sunday night each week. I need to turn in the schedule to the HD on Monday mornings. Thanks so much for volunteering your time for the animals! It is greatly appreciated!!

Love our dogs? Then adopt one as a Shelter Pup and FRIENDS will get a portion of the sale! Shelter Pups has turned a select group of dogs from our shelter into amazing and realistic plush pups. Check out Casper and wonderful Sherman! It's a great way to “adopt” one of our dogs and help our volunteer FRIENDS group at the same time. Shelter Pups can also make customs of your very own dog. Check it out and bring one of our dogs home as a Shelter Pup!

From SOCAF Management:
All dogs need to be walked with two leashes at all times, whether they are being walked from the pen to their runs, or just a few feet. No excuses, please!
The dogs must be on county property at all times when being walked. They cannot be walked IN the street or across the street.
Smoking is not allowed while walking dogs.
When walking dogs, please do not allow dogs to jump up onto any vehicles.
**********************************************************
TO ALL VOLUNTEERS:
If you see a dog limping, notice a lump, blood in the stool, etc., anything out of the ordinary, or if there is an incident with the dog, be sure to notify the supervisors, document the incident, and put it into the dog's file, keeping a copy for yourself.
