Too Warm Tuesday's News from Dave:

Lineup:  #2  (which  is the first usable run, (remember #1 was that big double run that is just gravel and the bench? ) anyway, 2- Brooke , 3-empty 4-BO 5- Mallory, (I know I know, I called you Maddy twice this morning! Sorry!!) 6-Shelby 7-Diesel 8- Max.

If someone wanted you to come up with just a real nice dog, we can give you two, the lovely Shelby and the equally sweet Sadie. Just "2 nice dogs". Nothing fancy, mysterious, just, hey, two goodies!!

Peaches took care of the meet and greet.

Surgery today for Maddy, Halo, and Skye, (the orange Husky). Poor Halo was so stumble bumbling after surgery, you just want to snuggle with them, help them sleep it off, the little angel face!!

Nice pack walk of Bo, Mallory, Sadie and Shelby, 4 la-di-da walkers indeed. That is a good mix. Second foursome out was Diesel, Max, Archie and Peaches. Easy peasy lemon squeezy with that crew as well.  The rest of the gang, Minnie, Jeet, Dodger, were run out one by one.

Staff has asked us all to "NO TREATS" for a few days; there's a little something either going around, or more likely, treat overload. Bo said "But I LOVE peanut butter!!" Well, I know, but what can I dooo!!

There is one canopy up now on run #4, so hopefully we'll see them all up before the first snowfall!! They really help with the shade. Again, if anyone has an old, yet serviceable steel rake to leave at the shelter on the side, so we can keep the gravel neat, it would be appreciated!

Mallory is sneaky lovey dovey; have you noticed? Still a little shy, but if you are in the outside run and sit down and try to ignore her, she will slide right over and nuzzle her face on your lap.

Walked Wrangler, B side, run#16, in the general vicinity of Shelby, Sadie and Bo. He seems to like dogs, but since he hasn't been temperament tested, don't get close. Just wanted him to see nice dogs walking, and he showed no signs other than "wait for me,"  so we'll see. Way better than he was, a lot more at ease, and easier to walk overall. Nice looking, young reddish and tan marked Terrier mix.

A guy came by to try and reclaim his lost cat. He was on a motorcycle, so I was kinda hoping to see that cat on the way home, the cat with a cool ascot and goggles, sitting on the handlebars or what, I dunno?? but it was not to be. He was on another planet's time zone, and all, soooooo, I cannot really tell you if there was really a cat involved, or what. "Silly humans" ALL the cats and dogs were thinking to themselves today! Dave

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**

We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!

It's that time of the year again.  We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.

We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
