Yes, I do occasionally take photos of humans!

From Debbie:
Wolfie on the way to his foster home.

From Dave:

Chilly start of the day, feels like snow is in the air. Went in early  to get Cleo and Cody out and about and, hopefully, a little worn out before their ride. Was startled by Deb, who had Wolfie out for pre-ride walk .Thought I was early, but apparently, that's like trying to sneak sunrise past a rooster! Deb was earlier than early! Wolfie's heading south, and the other duo, heading north.

Before Joanna and Nancy arrived, I was showing Cody his boarding pass, going over pre-flight inspection, checking his carry on, etc , and other things that he needs to know and take, and he was " Whoa!! That's a ONE-WAY ticket!!! Is that bad?"       Actually no!! It's terrific for you, and you will run and play and get some learning in your handsome head!!  But Cody asked, "What about the BAKE SALE???? Have you seen the flyer?? That's ME on it!!"  Oh, right, right you are. Hmmmm. Well, it  took a little explaining, but he bought my story about how we will still be able to proceed without him actually being there, which, I might add, he thought was a little misleading, a bit of false advertising, so to speak. Ooooh, boy. Can you get in the car, please??

So, Cody got his nice long walk first, and I was on to Cleo. I was noticing that when you are behind her on a walk (Hey! aren't you ALWAYS behind her on a walk?? hmmm, true!) her little ears are almost feline like. She looks like a young  Cougar, or Puma, or Catamount, or Mountain Lion, which ever name you prefer. Remember a few weeks ago, there was a Labradoodle with his hair cut like a Lion? And people were calling the Police and Zoo to report it!! I could hear the phone calls now if  Cleo was on the loose near Costco. "Hey!! There's a cougar running around the parking lot!!"  Good luck to those two attractive pittiepatties, Be good, behave, bee -youtiful!!

Grabbed a walk with Otis, and Casey had  Benji, and Kathy had Cali, and we took off with those 3 for a while.

Lineup:  2-Grip, 4-Benji, 5-Cara 6-Otis (who adores Cara!) and 7-Cali.

As I was leaving, the pair of slippers were on the move, Bentley and Banks with Casey and Kathy. Two  nice looking, well behaved dogs. How they got here, I wonder, but we always wonder, how ANYBODY got here. But they do, and then we get them on to second chances, so keep up the great work.  Dave
It's all fun and games until somebody ends up in a cone.

From Connie:

We're having a meeting for all dog walkers on Sunday, February 24th at 12 noon.  The meeting will be held at the Warren Grove Firehouse at 1475 Rt. 539, Warren Grove, NJ.

*************************************************
This week!  Bakers needed!

********************************************************

Dog Walking Schedule:

The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.

Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day!  Even if   you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded.  New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs.  Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards.  Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important:  Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it!  Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage.  Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all.  We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.

*Please make sure you notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week!
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.

Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER:  Every Tuesday is surgery day.  Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.

Rabies Clinic is the 2nd. and 4th. Wednesday of the month. Dogs must be back inside by 10:30 on Clinic days.

To All Dog Walkers:
Please pay attention to the DO NOT WALK SIGNS! If a card says do not walk, always ask management before assuming the dog is walkable. This can change daily depending on the dog's progress or health; therefore, it is very important to always ask first.

***From Cathy:  After walking the dogs on the salt covered roads and parking lot, we should wipe their paws with a towel to keep them from ingesting it and getting sick***

FOSTER HELP NEEDED!!!
From Susan:
We are looking for volunteers to foster cats that need medical attention.  Medicine is usually administered from between 10-14 days.  This is not a very difficult thing to do.  You need a separate room to keep the cat away from your pets.
******************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED

If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:

To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time.  Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X.  These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan
