Hi Valued Supporter,
Hi Valued Supporter,
Each and every person who joins and makes at least one purchase between October 18, 2013 and November 12, 2013 earns Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter an extra $5. That's in addition to the normal donation amount. It's a great time to ask folks to help your group, simply by shopping.
It's as easy as forwarding this email!
Three important details -
Three important details -
- Over 1,350 stores participating. Purchases at Amazon count for a donation,
but not towards the new member bonus. - New iGive members only (never joined before).
- They must use your special link we've provided below to join. And they must use iGive to
visit the store (the Button, the iPhone / iPad apps, or links on our site). Returns don't count. - Note the special method for Amazon.com purchases.
Get the word out today. Ends 11/12/13.
Your friends and family must join and shop by 11/12/13. That means they'll be all set to do their holiday shopping and help Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter at the same time. Every purchase they make can help. They'll feel good, and they'll do good.
The average shopper is raising over $30 a year, and many are raising $100 or $200 a year, at no cost to your cause or to them.

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER: Every Tuesday is surgery day. Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.
New Red Walker Policy: New red walkers must be accompanied by another red walker for a period of several weeks. New red walkers have a double asterisk by their names.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**
We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!
It's that time of the year again. We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.
We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan

Special Thanks to Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.
