A new week, a new plea for walking help.
Once again, afternoons are a problem, as are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings.

Sunday's Update from Dave:
What a nice bunch of dogs were to found this morning down at the shelter!! And a couple of totally mischief cats were out in the cathouse, taunting, playing with every one who walked by, whether 2 feet or 4!! That black cat was delightful!!! Good work , Linda C., Linda B., and Casey .
Oh, I met a beautiful, wonderful, sweet Polar Bear of a pup today, the lovely Sammy! Oh , enjoyed time with her, and she enjoyed walks with a good bunch of dogs as well. She is playful, lovely with dogs and just a terrific dog.
The Cattle Dog, Jade, got a nice, warm bath in the courtyard between A and B sides, the easiest dog bath I have ever been a part of. A real easy doer.
Jade has the same facial expressions, and all, as Linda C's Rocks, who she adopted awhile back from here. A smaller version of Rocks indeed.
Sweet Pea's a good gal, and she's good with confident, easygoing dogs. Swell companion on a stroll.
Casey had a tour today. Kelly H's husband was in and was out short time later with Casey, and the elegant, young, playful, Teddy. He looks like a Springer Spaniel mix, simply, a really nice boy to be around .As is Big Mama, who held court, lolling in the grass, content to see everyone else go long walking.
Lots of green coded dogs today, so Linda B. had her hands full and was glad to have a chance to handle a good number of good greenies!!
Jade is a bit hand shy and doesn't like quick moves. so be slow around her to avoid startling her.
Layla and Bella look like so many past residents, that terrific furrowed brow, the white coloring on the muzzle. Layla was sitting up on ALL the pillows on a chair in the meet and greet, almost looking DOWN on people walking by.
Bella, nice sized, tan pitty, cute, little shy with me today, what gives? Her fur is growing in well on her back,
Gosh, that was a morning well spent. Get in there and get a hold of Sammy!! Her nose like a RingDing, great dog, spotty ears, just sweet!! And Oreo and the rest, ya cant miss! Dave
From Casey:
Layla, thinking she's a cat in meet & greet! She wanted to see what was going on & thought view would be better higher up!
Bakers and event help are needed!
Contact Connie for more details.

Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week.
If you don't know your availability a week in advance and see we need help the next day, just send me an e-mail by 10 p.m. the night before, and I will put you on the schedule and notify the shelter.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.

REMINDER: Every Tuesday is surgery day. Find out who is having surgery when you come to walk the dogs.
New Red Walker Policy: New red walkers must be accompanied by another red walker for a period of several weeks. New red walkers have a double asterisk by their names. More details will follow within a day or two.

**KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP**
We are in need of fosters for our Bottle Baby kittens!
It's that time of the year again. We need willing fosters who
can handle a litter of bottle babies, which require round-the-clock feeding. Yes, this means night time as well! We supply all the necessities, including a cage. Compensation will be given for your loving time and devotion.
We also need regular kitten fosters, as well, for a maximum of three kittens. Please contact Susan at pink49puffer@inbox.com if you would like to help us during this time! Thank you so much!
******************************************************
KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED
If interested in helping out, please contact the shelter at socaf@ochd.org.
From Susan:
To all volunteers who wish to socialize with the cats when I am not there, PLEASE take only one cat out at a time. Cats that should not be taken out have an X with a circle around the X. These cats need time to adjust to the shelter.
Thank You, Susan

Special Thanks to Jennifer for taking these pics and for keeping us updated as to which cats are where.

Hi Dog Walkers, If you will, please get the days and times you will be able to walk dogs in the upcoming week to Joanne Eckert no later than Sunday night each week. I need to turn in the schedule to the HD on Monday mornings. Thanks so much for volunteering your time for the animals! It is greatly appreciated!!
**********************************************************
Love our dogs? Then adopt one as a Shelter Pup and FRIENDS will get a portion of the sale! Shelter Pups has turned a select group of dogs from our shelter into amazing and realistic plush pups. Check out Casper and wonderful Sherman! It's a great way to “adopt” one of our dogs and help our volunteer FRIENDS group at the same time. Shelter Pups can also make customs of your very own dog. Check it out and bring one of our dogs home as a Shelter Pup!
