Dog Walking Schedule:
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
**Reactive dogs? Give them a ball or toy to carry as you take them out.****
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.

Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week, if possible. You may also call, e-mail, or text me at 709-4140 by 8:30 a.m. on the day you wish to come in. I will then put you on the schedule and notify the shelter. You may come in as long as there aren't already the maximum number of walkers on that particular day or shift.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the met-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.
PLEASE do not block the mailbox when you come in to walk dogs!Leave enough space for the mail truck to pull in and out
leaving one on at the end of the day, and always take off harnesses. Never leave one on at the end of the day. Thanks so much.***

Simply pin on a bulletin board at your local library, post office, town hall, laundry mat, etc. or ask a store owner, restaurant, if you can hang in their window or wall. Effective Sunday, July 23, 2017 all dog walkers will be responsible for their own scheduling. Joanne Eckert will no longer be scheduling dog walkers. It will be done through the Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter website – www.fosocas.org
Please follow these steps to schedule yourself:
1.Go to www.fosocas.org
2.From a laptop or computer, click on Programs, select Dog Walking Sign Up from the drop down menu. From mobile devices - phones and tablets - click on the 3 little horizontal lines in the upper right corner to view the headings and then click on the down arrow to the right of Programs to open the drop down menu, select Dog Walking Sign Up.
3.Click on Google Calendar to open the sign up form.
4.Beneath the beautiful, snowy picture enter your name, date and start/end times. You have the ability to enter up to three dates, but must enter at least one.
5.Click SUBMIT
After approximately 15 minutes, your information will appear on the Dog Walking Schedule, viewable by clicking on that heading from the same drop down menu. If you click on AGENDA in the upper right corner of the calendar a list of dates, names and start times will open. If you click on a name, from either the calendar or the list, the start and end times will open. REMEMBER: 6 walkers in the AM and 4 walkers in the PM! We are responsible to monitor ourselves and abide by these numbers. Do not sign up to walk if a shift is full; however, remember to check the start and end times because part of a shift may be available.
Please do not schedule yourself unless you are sure that you can walk. Of course, situations arise where you may have to remove yourself from the schedule. ****************************************************************Our Pet Food Pantry is currently located at the Ocean Community Church (72W) on Wednesday mornings between 10 am and 12 noon. The Church volunteers are thrilled to have dog and cat food to distribute. Please pass around to friends and family that we need ongoing pet food donations (smaller bags, if possible, would be helpful). Please drop any food at the Shelter. If you have any questions, please call Claire at 609-549-5243.
