Walking help needed from Wednesday on.
************************************************
Dog Walking Schedule:
The minimum number of walkers needed by 9:00 a.m. is two in order to handle the task of getting dogs out for their first morning walk.
Volunteers are really needed early in the morning, 9:00 a.m. every day! Even if you can only help for a half hour or an hour, it would help.
**Reactive dogs? Give them a ball or toy to carry as you take them out.****
The dogs are color coded. New volunteers may NOT walk Red dogs. Please pay attention to the color coding and the cage cards. Red walkers' names in red type.
***************************
Important: Please do not sign up for a shift if you aren't sure you can make it! Other volunteers come in if there isn't enough coverage. Some people have signed up for shifts and have been either late or not shown up at all. We really need at least two people early in the morning--9:00--to get everyone out.
*Please try to notify me of your walking plans by Sunday night each week, if possible. You may also call, e-mail, or text me at 709-4140 by 8:30 a.m. on the day you wish to come in. I will then put you on the schedule and notify the shelter. You may come in as long as there aren't already the maximum number of walkers on that particular day or shift.
Maximum number of walkers in the morning is 6 at one time, 4 in the afternoon.
Please make sure no dogs are left outside or in the meet-and-greet room when the last volunteer leaves.
Red walkers are underscored.

From Dottie:
We have a winner! Anisha returned my call this morning and she is so excited about the Safari.
Will you please forward this to everyone who helped with the ticket sales and the Callaway dinner (a great night). It was the huge effort from everyone that made the raffle a success.
Thanks to all.
Patty
Thank you to All who attended the Callaway's Fundraiser and had a great time while raising $3,450 after all costs were paid! Super raffle prizes were won including a 40" TV entertainment package by Linda Cook and Mary Ensminger donated back her 50/50 winning. JoAnn LoDuca was honored for her wonderful support of the Friends with a Lifetime Member plaque, gift certificate and flowers. A special thank you to Leslie and Reggie Lorah of Lucky's Bed and Biscuit and Callaway's restaurant for making it all possible. And the big winners of the evening were: the shelter pets we will not be able to help!
Thank you,
Dottie

From Melissa:
Please help by printing and hanging this flyer to help advertise our Shelter and wonderful pets for adoption. Simply pin on a bulletin board at your local library, post office, town hall, laundry mat, etc. or ask a store owner, restaurant, if you can hang in their window or wall. More exposure means more adoptions. Pass on to a friend to place one somewhere as well, the more the better!
If you’d like to make it two-sided for hanging in a window, print two, place back to back and tape together in the middle.
Also, it’s not necessary, but if you’d like to laminate a flyer they have laminate pouches at Staples and Office Max.
Thank you for getting the word out for our pets waiting for their forever home.
We have a new "Special Project" classification as the weather warms up and the dogs are put outside in the runs. Volunteers would sign in as usual and be on the schedule, but they would not walk dogs. Their only duty is to sit outside when the dogs are in the runs and keep an eye on them so others are free to walk, mornings only when the public isn't around. This change is perfect for experienced volunteers who don't feel comfortable walking the tough guys on any particular day.
Email me if you would be interested in sitting in the sun with the dogs.
**********************************************************
Please don't leave big, strong dogs unsupervised in Run #1, as a strong dog might be able to break out.

Our Pet Food Pantry is currently located at the Ocean Community Church (72W) on Wednesday mornings between 10 am and 12 noon. The Church volunteers are thrilled to have dog and cat food to distribute. Please pass around to friends and family that we need ongoing pet food donations (smaller bags, if possible, would be helpful). Please drop any food at the Shelter. If you have any questions, please call Claire at 609-549-5243.

Here's an easy way for anyone who walks to make a little money for our shelter, and it's free for anyone who has a smartphone.
